Martin Professor of Alzheimer's Education Department of Psychiatry Director, Education Core Indiana Alzheimer Disease Center Indiana University School of Medicine Mary Guerriero Austrom (B.A., B.Ed., Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario; M.A., Ph.D., York University, Toronto) has worked and lectured in the field of Alzheimer disease for over 15 years. Her clinical and research interests include the grief and stress experienced by family caregivers of Alzheimer disease patients as well as issues related to healthy adjustment to late life transitions. She has written over 80 articles, book chapters and abstracts on these topics. Her interests include professional caregivers; especially in long term care facilities. As a result, she develops and delivers staff and management development workshops for long term care facilities. Dr. Austrom is on the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Indiana currently serving on the Executive Committee as the Immediate President of the Chapter. She chairs the National Steering Committee of Education Core Directors and is also involved with other organizations both locally and nationally devoted to issues affecting the elderly. ![]() James R. Peacock, Ph.D. Assistant Professor Department of Sociology & Social Work Appalachian State University Boone, NC Dr. Peacock is Assistant Professor of Sociology and Gerontology in the Department of Sociology and Social Work at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. His teaching in social gerontology covers a range of topics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
